MasterMap Height / Contours - An Overview The Map Shop has enabled easy access to OS MasterMap property level mapping with relevant height information in instantly usable formats. Ordnance Survey OS MasterMap® Topographic Layer is a highly accurate, flexible resource covering nationally some 400 million man-made and natural features, from fields to pillar boxes. Environment Agency LIDAR height Data is available for many areas giving increased accuracy of contour information normally at 1 metre interval but increasing to 0.25 metre interval in some flood areas. Ordnance Survey DTM Contouring at 5 metre interval is also available at a similar level of accuracy to NEXTmap. NEXTMap Britain brings you the most current, comprehensive, accurate and affordable digital elevation and image data of England, Wales and Scotland, a total of 231,326 sq. km. Contours supplied at 1 metre intervals* are derived from the NEXTmap Britain Digital Terrain Model (DTM) composing height levels on a 5 metre grid. The DTM represents a 'bare-earth' model extracted from the original Digital Surface Model using Intermap's proprietary TerrainFit® software. This data offers an extremely cost effective means of obtaining an initial indication of a site's vertical position and characteristics. With a tested 95 percent accuracy of ± 1.5 metres for the majority of the dataset in unobstructed and moderately sloping terrain, this dataset offers consistent detail for the UK NB:- As with all detailed datasets, users should ensure they fully understand the nature of the data and its limitations before use. * 1 metre intervals are used with the intention of ensuring the provision of some information even in flat or very small areas. This does not imply any additional level of accuracy beyond that noted above. An Easy Guide to Adding Height / Contours to O.S. MasterMap & for O.S. Northern Ireland Mapping
Ordnance Survey OS MasterMap Topographic Layer is a highly accurate, flexible resource covering nationally some 400 million man-made and natural features, from fields to pillar boxes. This powerful resource is given greater richness by adding aerial imagery. Unlike a conventional map, aerial photography makes it possible to see what is actually on the ground and this enables users to pick out prominent features, which might range from old industrial buildings to tree belts, brooks, ponds and even archaeological features which were previously unknown. There is Full GB coverage & similar coverage for O.S. Northern Ireland Mapping. NB:- If adding ‘Height Information’ it is possible to add ‘Aerial Information’ at the same time. BRITISH GEOLOGICAL SURVEY - MAPPING INFORMATION British Geological Mapping (BGS) is available in the following scales and formats:- BGS 1:10000 geology overprinted on Ordnance Survey 1:10000 mapping. The product covers around 30% of the UK - as the product is not complete you will find greyed out areas where data is not available. The mapping data is the most detailed geological mapping available from the British Geological Survey (BGS), consisting of four polygon layers. As the 1/10000 Mapping only covers approx.. 30% of Britain & we can provide information on availability. Please note that on the BGS 1/10000 Index only areas in 'white background' are available. Do not try to order any area shown in 'grey background' .
1: 50000 British Geological Survey Mapping is available in 3 formats :- 1 - BGS 1/50000 - This product includes the most recent interpretation of the geology of Great Britain as mapped to 1:50,000 scale by the British Geological Survey. This is overlain on 1:50,000 mapping from the Ordnance Survey. Although the geology of Great Britain remains largely unchanged over the geologically insignificant timescale of the human lifetime, there are constant updates to the mapping as the understanding of the often hidden 'surface' geology is improved by growing knowledge, technological advances in investigation and new exposure through excavation and natural ground movement. 2 - BGS GeoSure 1:50000 with background mapping - It is vital to determine the stability (and thus value) of land, property, and the safety of its occupiers. The GeoSure data sets from the British Geological Survey provide information about potential ground movement or subsidence in a helpful and consistent rating system. 3 - BGS 1:50,000 Geological Mapping and GeoSure Information for a full understanding of the rock types present and the implications that these have on potential slope stability, ground movement or subsidence. The GeoSure component is complimented by the British Geological Survey 1:50,000 data which underpins the ratings given in the various GeoSure categories. Comparing the two datasets quickly reveals a deeper understanding of why risks may have been attributed to any given area. The BGS Geological and GeoSure Data can help inform planning decisions and indicate causes of subsidence or instability. See the next page for an Easy Guide to create site centred geological mapping, and the page after that for Sample Prices.. An Easy Guide to Create Site Centered Geological Mapping - ~ For Local Interest, Planning Reports or for Professional Use~ The minimum price is £10 for 30 sq. km at 1/50000 scale, or 20 sq. km when enlarged to 1/25000 scale.
